Pelvic Pain & Physiotherapy Workshop - Care for the Sexual Assault Patient is organized by University of Calgary - Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development and will be held on Sep 21, 2018 at Advanced Technical Skills Simulation Laboratory, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Course Overview :
This workshop provides an interactive approach to the patient with chronic pelvic pain, with particular focus and attention to the patient with a trauma history. With the use of pelvic models, participants will learn to conduct a pelvic pain assessment. This will include using principles of trauma-informed care to develop an approach to examination, assessment of the pelvic floor and the review of treatment modalities.
Course Objectives :
The intent of the workshop is for learners to :
• Define chronic pelvic pain and associated medical terminology (vulvodynia and dyspareunia).
• Explain causes of chronic pelvic pain and develop an approach to assess chronic pelvic pain.
• Complete a genital examination using the principles of trauma informed care.
• Identify pelvic anatomy and undertake a pelvic floor assessment.
• Discuss treatment options and modalities.
• Review how to assess and respond to psychological aspects of pelvic pain.
