OVERVIEW

North Pacific Pediatric Society (NPPS) 196th Scientific Meeting & Conference is organized by North Pacific Pediatric Society (NPPS) and will be held during Apr 28 - 29, 2018 at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle, Seattle, Washington, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

Course Objectives:
Summarize the scope of outpatient antibiotic prescribing nationally and importance of stewardship
• Discuss first-line antibiotic selection for common pediatric outpatient infections
• Describe effective outpatient antibiotic stewardship interventions, including behavioral nudges
• Provide parents with information about toxic stress, child risk factors and protective assets which can enhance resilience.
• Discuss options for reducing stress in the family (e.g. media-free family time, child-centered play, exposure to nature, increasing sleep, emotional regulation techniques, parenting classes, and positive youth engagement after school
• Identify major new studies and novel discoveries in pediatric that have occurred during 2017-18.
• Explain and synthesize advances in pediatric as they can be applied to one’s practice.
• Identify why screening for depression should occur in their patient populations, and how to organize their practices for performing depression screens.
• Perform the first and second line treatment strategies for depression in young people, and should be able to carry out the first line depression care for their patients at the conclusion of this activity.
• Define trauma experiences and identify children impacted by trauma
• Recognize the difference between PTSD, trauma reactions, and other mental health diagnoses
• Recognize the signs and symptoms that may indicate an underlying serious cardiac condition in children with Syncope.
• Identify cardiac conditions that might pose risk of sudden cardiac death.
• Describe the epidemiology and physiology of functional constipation
• Differentiate between organic and functional constipation
• Identify intractable constipation in the evaluation of a child
• Distinguish eczematous and viral eruption from similar but distinct rashes that are suggestive of primary immunodeficiency (PI)
• Recognize when associated finding in patients with vascular malformations, eczematous dermatitis or hyperhidrosis, should trigger further workup for an underlying condition.
• Use AAP guidelines to incorporate media into clinical interactions.
