Dr. Don Shifrin (Dr. Don) joined our practice in 1978 and is also a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He was inspired to choose this career by his childhood pediatrician. After medical school at Georgetown, he completed his residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Since then he has been active in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), locally and nationally.

Dr. Don has testified before congress, represented the Academy on national task forces, chaired an Academy committee, led media training for Academy leadership, and was a co-editor for the Academy's first parent newsmagazine: Healthy Children. You may also know his voice from the AAP “A Minute for Kids” radio program. Dr. Don has focused recently on the media’s impact on children. He has been involved with Seattle Children’s and chairs the Physicians Committee for the Seattle Jewish Federation. In his free time, Dr. Don likes to play tennis. He recently had to give up basketball, after playing for 40 years, due to a secondary neck injury. He is also an information junkie. He loves reading anything he can get his hands on, especially about pediatrics, sports, or politics.
