Course Description:
A Joint BADS & Healthcare Conferences UK Conference. Day surgery is now provided for an increasing range of procedures, in patients ranging from the very fit to the rather frail. It has become the standard of care for many elective surgery procedures and should be the default option for all 200 procedures within the BADS Directory of Procedures. The day will recount the 10 year journey with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust from when they introduced an enhanced recovery programme for hip and knee arthroplasty which has seen their length of stay reduce to same day discharge for some patients, and a mean of 2.5 days for all NHS patients.
