OVERVIEW
23rd Annual Multidisciplinary Symposium on Breast Disease is organized by University of Florida Health (UF Health) and will be held during Feb 15 - 18, 2018 at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach, Florida, United States of America. The target audience for this medical event is Urologists. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 25.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Conference Description:
The symposium provides a multidisciplinary overview of the diagnosis and treatment of all stages of breast cancer. Faculty includes experts in the fields of surgical, medical and radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, surgery and patient advocacy. The target audience includes clinicians, specialists, and scientists involved in the care and treatment of patients with breast cancer, as well as research and education concerning this important disease.
Conference Objectives are:
• Review the range and safety of fertility preservation techniques and technologies available to breast cancer patients and survivors
• Identify the manifestations of menopause in breast cancer survivors as well as the efficacy and safety of various interventions, including hormones, hormonal analogs and manipulators and alternative therapies
• Assess the available approaches and treatments in managing post-operative pain in patients having mastectomy surgery
• Outline alternative approaches to breast reconstruction using tissue expanders or implants
• Review recent clinical data for immune therapy in breast cancer and describe future directions
• Discuss current data for accelerated partial breast irradiation and describe new and emerging techniques
• Presently available data regarding risk factors and selection of patients for omission of radiation after lumpectomy and discuss ongoing trials addressing this issue
• Describe the rationale for pre-operative systemic therapy for breast cancer and to formulate individualized treatment and monitoring plans
• Review biological and clinical evidence in the optimal use of endocrine therapy for breast cancer
• Outline options for management of DCIS for imaging, pathology, surgery, reconstruction, and other issues
• Review controversies surrounding breast cancer screening
• Illustrate contemporary theories of cancer as it relates to carcinogenesis, prognosis, therapy, and prevention
• Describe the morphologic differences between columnar cell changes (and columnar cell hyperplasia); and flat epithelial atypia, and recognize their clinical and molecular significance as part of the “Low-Grade Neoplasia” family
• Distinguish breast entities from morphologic mimikers arising in the breast or extramammary sites.
The schedule includes Pre-Symposium Workshops on Thursday, February 15th for an additional fee.
