Women and their Mental Health is organized by Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPSYCH) and will be held on Dec 08, 2017 at America Square Conference Centre, London, England, United Kingdom. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6 CPD hours.

Aims:
• To provide an update on the latest understanding of the biological underpinnings of women’s mental health
• To provide an update on the broader current understanding of women’s mental health experience i.e. its multifactorial nature, with perspectives drawn from other disciplines (such as psychology, psychotherapy, sociology, anthropology, philosophy & the arts)
• To provide an update on prescribing for women taking into account biological, psychological and social factors (in the woman and in the prescriber).

Conference Objectives :
• Participants will gain a good understanding of the latest research into women’s mental health
• Participants will learn about the biopsychosocial aspects of women’s mental health and understand how to attend to each of these areas in order to support women to achieve optimal outcomes in terms of their mental health.
• Participants will learn about safer prescribing in women taking into account psychological and social aspects of prescribing in addition to biological ones.
• The debate will provide participants with opposing viewpoints about the influence of hormones and biological factors on women’s mental health and help to equip them with information to better manage women’s mental health problems.

This year’s conference is uncompromising in its examination of the role of societal expectations of female sexuality in the development of mental health problems in women. To this end there will be discussion of the prevalence of mental health problems in women, the relationship of these to sexual abuse and exploitation, the role of pornography and the exponential growth of cosmetic surgical procedures in women.

• Sexual rights in women - Elana Covshoff
• Psychotropic medication and the impact on women’s sexual functioning - Shubulade Smith
• Panel discussion– Women’s mental health will only improve when the media stop propagating unrealistic images of “Barbie doll” females.
