ESSO-ERAS Course on Peri-operative Care in GI Surgery 2017

European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) - Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Course on Peri-operative Care in GI Surgery is organized by European Society of Surgical Oncology and will be held during Dec 11 - 12, 2017 at Hotel NH Maastricht, Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands.

Aim of the Course :
This course will address perioperative care in GI oncologic surgery. The focus is on the role of enhanced recovery (ERAS) programs and on the early recognition and management of the more common complications.

ERAS is a multimodal perioperative care program which replaces traditional practices concerning parenteral analgesia, intravenous fluids and nutrition, bed rest and postoperative drain care with evidence-based best practices, covering all areas of the patient’s surgical journey. The ERAS program can reduce care time by more than 30% and postoperative complications by up to 50%, if all the professionals involved in perioperative care work as a well-coordinated team.
The course is designed not only for surgeons but also for the whole multidisciplinary team (anesthesiologists, nurses, dieticians,…) that is involved in setting up and running an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program in their hospital.
