AOTrauma Course - Basic Principles of Fracture Management is organized by AOTrauma and would be held during Jun 26 - 29, 2017 at Worsley Medical and Dental Building, Leeds, England, United Kingdom.

The target audience for this medical event basically for general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, trauma surgery.

CPD accreditation will be applied for from the British Orthopaedic Association. Course Description:
Surgeons on the AOTrauma Advances Course will work with leading trauma surgeons to learn state-of-the-art techniques in an intensive and exciting 4 days. The emphasis of the Course is on the application of basic principles in the management of complex fractures, using advanced surgical techniques. There is particular a focus on evidence-based decision-making, improving clinical skills and dealing with complications.

The course comprises 8 modules related to the latest advances in trauma surgery, including management of complex diaphyseal and articular fractures, the use of locking plates and modern concepts in the treatment of polytrauma. Short lectures, discussion sessions and interactive practical workshops allow direct contact with all the faculty. Participants are encouraged to bring x-rays of their own cases and to share their ideas and experience in an informal setting.

Learning Objectives are :
• Relate bone healing to soft tissue damage
• Recognise paediatric and adult fracture patterns
• Plan appropriate surgical intervention when required
• Use modern reduction techniques to achieve optimum fracture union
• Recognise complex injuries and identify factors contributing to outcome
• Outline current advances in the management of fractures
• Describe the evolution of these techniques from basic principles
• Refer to current evidence and its value in injury management
• Apply AO principles to modern fracture treatment
