Americas Hernia Society (AHS) Endorsed Meeting : Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Expert Symposium is organized by Americas Hernia Society (AHS) and would be held during Sep 07 - 09, 2017 at Napa Valley Marriott, Napa, California, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event for general, plastic, and trauma surgeons involved in abdominal wall reconstructions. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Program Overview :
Complex abdominal defects present challenging problems for surgeons. The increased risk for recurrence and wound complications highlights the unmet need to reduce the likelihood for reoperations. This can be best accomplished by utilizing an evidence-based best-practice approach at the time of initial abdominal wall reconstruction. The primary repair of these defects with mesh reinforcement is an accepted evidence-based practice. However, clinicians still express uncertainty in matching patient characteristics with optimal mesh composition and improving postoperative outcomes via surgical approaches.1,2 This 3-day, interactive conference will provide a forum to review updates in abdominal wall reconstruction, collaborate with other surgeons from across the country, and to interact with world renowned experts, ultimately resulting in improvement in patient outcomes.
Educational Objectives :
At the completion of this conference, participants should be able to :
• Describe the various available synthetic, biologic, and absorbable meshes as well as outline updates in antibiotic impregnation and reinforcement of bioscaffolds
• Employ methods to reduce postoperative complications and optimize ventral hernia repairs
• Identify the surgical methods to optimize reconstructive challenges in complex abdominal wall defects
• Describe the role and technical advances in the robotic approach to abdominal wall reconstruction
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
