OVERVIEW
Advances in Gastroenterology for the Primary Care Provider is organized by MedStar Health and would be held on Nov 11, 2017 at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C, Washington, Dist Of Col, United States Of America. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
This course will serve as a review and update on field of gastroenterology and liver disease as they relate to clinical practice. The conference will cover recent advances in diet and lifestyle changes as well controversies around treatment of various GI conditions presented by regional experts. Additionally the course will address new guidelines and treatment options along with recommendations for incorporating these updates into practice. The program will also offer a glimpse into the future of medical malpractice and tort reform under consideration by Congress.
Conference Objectives are :
• Describe the updated guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of GERD.
• Identify appropriate use and side effects of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
•Describe updates and improve practices in surveillance and management of Barrett's esophagus.
• Define Barrett’s Esophagus and recognize when to refer for surveillance and/or treatment of this disease.
• Identify patients who should be screened for H pylori and apply best practices for treatment.
• Evaluate patients with abnormal liver tests and utilize effective treatment for viral hepatitis C patients.
• Discuss current antiviral treatments for hepatitis C and how they can be applied in the primary care setting.
• Recognize when to screen patients at average risk and high risk for colorectal cancer.
• Describe the latest surveillance guidelines for colon cancer.
• Diagnose and treat Cdiff effectively with medical therapy, and distinguish which patients would benefit from fecal transplantation.
• Interpret major advances in the field of gastroenterology.
• Manage patients with both common and rare GI disorders using established guidelines.
