31st Annual Conference : Challenges for Clinicians is organized by The University of Chicago - Center for Continuing Medical Education and will be held during Dec 01 - 03, 2017 at Drake Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

The Target audience for this medical event is anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists and other clinicians and health care professionals working with a variety of patients and practice settings. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 20.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description :
The evolving landscape of perioperative medicine has dramatically increased the scope and complexity of anesthesia care. New techniques, new drugs, new evidence, quality and safety concerns play a role in today’s practice environment. This conference will focus on areas of anesthetic care that require integrating these new aspects of medical care. Increasingly, we need to know not only whether techniques are effective, but also whether they are of high quality, safe, evidence-based, and cost effective.

Course Objectives :
At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Discuss cognitive strategies for improving safety & training effective clinicians;
• Describe the relationship between surgery, perioperative opioid use, and postoperative addiction;
• Examine how the public perception of propofol in light of recent legal events affects its use;
• Discuss strategies for preventing or mitigating postoperative residual neuromuscular blockade;
• Review current best practices for perioperative management of patients with chronic pain;
• Outline strategies for facilitating and improving professionalism in anesthesia practice;
• Summarize how current knowledge of pediatric anesthesia-related neurotoxicity and pediatric regional anesthesia impacts anesthesia practice;
• Discuss current approaches to anesthesia advanced cardiac life support;
• Appraise the practical implications of current controversies in obstetric anesthesia including management of epidural blood patches;
• State current strategies for anesthesia in patients with stenotic heart disease;
• Analyze reasons scientific findings in published literature may not be correct.
