1st Australasian Diagnostic Error in Medicine Conference

1st Australasian Diagnostic Error in Medicine Conference is organized by Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM) and would be held during May 24 - 25, 2017 at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park, Albert park, Victoria, Australia. The target audience for this medical event basically for Medicine.

Conference Theme

It is thought that about 1 in 10 diagnoses made by doctors is incorrect. Improving diagnosis is a patient safety imperative that requires a team effort.  This conference will bring together world leaders in diagnostic error, the safety sciences, health IT, medical indemnity providers and clinicians passionate about making diagnosis more accurate, timely and safe. The patient voice will be a focus of attention.  The language of diagnosis will be explored and the contribution that medical culture makes to diagnostic error will be examined.

Diagnosis is difficult. With the increasing complexity of medicine, teamwork is crucial. The team includes the patient (and their family), nurses, doctors and allied health. Good relationships and communication between team members is vital to safer diagnosis for our patients.

• Make diagnosis safer by identifying priorities in patient engagement, research, education, clinical care.
