12th Annual Mid-Atlantic Hospital Medicine Symposium: Mastering the Care of the Hospitalized Patient is organized by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and would be held during Oct 20 - 21, 2017 at Leon And Norma Hess Center For Science And Medicine, New York, United States Of America.
The target audience for this medical event for Hospitalists, General Internists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, House Staff, Medical Students. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 11.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description:
We all recall the Master Clinician who helped train us; this was the clinician we most wanted to emulate and hoped to become. Our symposium’s rapid pace, relevant topics and flexible format is designed to ensure a highly valuable experience that will move you towards your goal of becoming a master clinician.
Our faculty consists of national and international leaders in their fields and our sessions have been designed to provide highly relevant material in a concise and stimulating format.
Conference Objectives are :
• Apply cutting-edge data to provide the most up-to-date treatment for patients with pneumonia
• Treat patients with pain syndromes with effective regimens that do not include opioid analgesics
• Choose HiFlo nasal cannula or Bipap for appropriate patients with acute respiratory failure
• Optimize patients with major comorbidities prior to surgery and recognize common complications in the post-operative setting
• Identify best practices in teamwork and collaboration among hospitalists and Advanced Practice Clinicians on hospitalist teams

• Keynote speaker, Dr. Scott Flanders, Past-President of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), speaking on What’s New in Pneumonia. Time for steroids?
• Renowned experts, including Sean Pinney presenting Advances in CHF.
• Pearls for Practice series presenting rapid fire lectures on core topics, including Air it Out - choosing HiFlo or NIPPV, All Access - choosing midline or PICC, and how to Manage Pain without Opioids
• Skills Workshop - Enhance your expertise in essential skills that impact patient care on a daily basis. Stations include Acid-base interpretation, CXR evaluation, and advanced ECG analysis
• Handheld Ultrasound Skills – Develop your expertise in bedside sono!
OurWorkshops provide participants with a choice of Three Tracks in which to gain expertise. Concentrate in one track to develop expertise or mix-and-match tracks to experience a variety of topics:
• HOSPITALIST AS GENERALIST - Develop mastery of core topics, including Pain Management, Pre-Operative Assessment, and Post-Op Management
• HOSPITALIST AS SPECIALIST - Develop expertise in areas such as stabilizing critically ill patients, caring for patients with HIV, and inpatient diabetes challenges
• ENHANCING QUALITY & VALUE - Workshops will educate and enlighten on topics including Team-based Care with physicians, NPs, and PAs; Peeking behind the SNF curtain; and Bedside Ultrasound.
