Zbigniew K. Wszolek, M.D., is a physician in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. His interests lay in the clinical genetics of neurodegenerative conditions. He has been instrumental in the discovery of the several genes in which the mutations produce the clinical signs of parkinsonism, dementia, dystonia, ataxia, and others.

He earned his medical degree at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. His postgraduate training included a neurology residency and fellowships in clinical neurophysiology, movement disorders and PET imaging in Poland, the United States, and Canada.

In addition to his clinical and research activities, Dr. Wszolek has been active in education and has provided mentorship to multiple visiting scientists, special project associates, and research fellows, among others. He is also a courtesy professor of neurology at the College of Medicine at the University of Florida Health Science Center.
