Worawit Louthrenoo is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He graduated from Chiang Mai University with a Doctor of Medicine in 1981 and received a Diploma of the Thai Board of Internal Medicine in 1985. He then completed his clinical fellowships in rheumatology at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand in 1986, and at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, the United States in 1990.
On return to his home country, Professor Louthrenoo started to teach and research in clinical rheumatology. His main research interests include crystal-associated arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and spondyloarthropathies.
Professor Louthrenoo receives frequent invitations to speak at national and international rheumatology meetings. He has also received many awards, including the Prince Songkla Award in 1988, Best Internist Award from the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand in2010, Best Researcher Award from Chiang Mai University in 2011 and Best Teacher Award from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University in 2013.
