Wes Wallace is adjunct professor in emergency medicine at the UNC School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, NC. He has special interests in wilderness, disaster and international medicine. He is medical director of the University of North Carolina based Mid Carolina State Medical Assistance Team II. He teaches wilderness first aid, regularly travels to Honduras to provide medical care to remote populations along the Rio Platano, and attends at the Vidas de Esperanza Clinic in Siler City, North Carolina. He is active in the Sierra Club, was on the North Carolina Governors Commission on Smart Growth, has testified before the NC legislature on clean air issues and has served as president of Physicians for Social Responsibility, the United States affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, winner of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize.
