Werner Kempf MD

Dr. Werner Kempf, MD, is a professor of dermatology and consultant dermatopathologist at the Dept. of Dermatology, University Hospital Zurich and co-director of the laboratory Kempf and Pfaltz Histological Diagnostics in Zurich, Switzerland.

He received his MD from the University of Zurich. After residencies in surgical pathology and dermatology at the University Hospital Zurich, he pursued postdoctoral fellowships in the Dept. of Pathology Div. Hematopathology (M. E. Kadin, MD) and the Dept. of Medicine, Div. Viral Pathogenesis (N.L. Letvin, MD) at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston MA) in 1999 - 2000. His studies focused on viral oncogenesis and growth factors in CD30-positive cutaneous lymphomas. In 2000, he joined the faculty at the Dept. of Dermatology, University Hospital in Zurich (Chairman: G. Burg, MD) and served as head of Dermatopathology Unit and head of the Unit for skin diseases in transplant recipients. In 2004, he co-founded the pathology laboratory Kempf and Pfaltz Histological Diagnostics for dermatopathology, ENT pathology, and molecular pathology in conjunction with a private dermatology practice in Zurich.
