Dr. Wendy Katzman is Associate Professor in the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. She is a physical therapist and board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Dr. Katzman received a post-professional doctoral degree (DPTSc) in Physical Therapy Science in 2006 to study the effects of exercise on age-related hyperkyphosis and Advanced Training in Clinical Research Certification in 2009.

She is currently funded by the UCSF/NIH Building Interdisciplinary Careers in Women’s Health to research the epidemiology of age-related hyperkyhosis and to investigate the role of hyperkyphosis along the causal pathway to disability. Dr. Katzman has published numerous manuscripts about age-related hyperkyphosis including results from an uncontrolled trial of the effects of a targeted exercise program on kyphosis and physical function in older women, a project that received funding from the CA PT Fund. Dr. Katzman has developed a professional teaching module on Bone Health for the CA APTA and is clinical faculty in the University of California/San Francisco State Graduate Program in Physical Therapy responsible for teaching students about osteoporosis and bone health.
