Walter G. Park MD, MS

Walter G. Park, MD, MS, is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and Medical Director of the Benign Pancreas Program within Stanford Health Care. He received his undergraduate degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics, where he also obtained a Master's Degree in Health Services Research. His research interests focus on clinical and translational research in pancreatic diseases with a specific interest in biomarker discovery and validation. He is a Principal Investigator in the NCI/NIDDK Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer, and in the NCI Pancreatic Cancer Detection Consortium.

Dr. Park focuses on the diagnosis and management of acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, and the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. His research focuses on translational biomarker discovery for chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer through the development of biorepositories with clinical databases. To complement this focus, Dr. Park performs endoscopic ultrasound as part of his clinical practice and to facilitate the collection of various bio-specimens for biomarker discovery.
