Vivekanand Jha MBBS, MD, DM, PhD, FRCP, FRCP, FAMS

Professor Vivekanand Jha is the Executive Director of the George Institute India, Professor of Nephrology at the University of Oxford, UK and the President-Elect of the International Society of Nephrology. He did MD (Internal Medicine) and DM (Nephrology) at PGIMER, joined its faculty and was the Professor of Nephrology. He set up a basic science research lab including the Stem Cell Research Facility and was Head of the Department of Translational and Regenerative Medicine. With a substantial research track record, Prof Jha is recognized as a global expert on kidney disease, especially from the point of view of low-middle income countries. He currently leads research projects operating in more than 20 countries worldwide. He is a member of Task Forces and Scientific Advisory Committees of the Department of Science and Technology of Govt of India and is an Advisor to the WHO. Prof Jha has had leadership roles in the Transplantation Society and International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis and is the chair of the Asian Renal Consortium. He has written over 250 journal articles, 40 book chapters and is on the Editorial Board of several international journals. He is a Subject Editor of the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology.
