Virginia (ginger) Clark MD, MS

Dr. Ginger Clark, M.D., M.S., is a Clinical Professor of Medicine and the Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at the University of Florida College of Medicine and UF Health. Her clinical expertise focuses on liver disease, with special emphasis on genetic and metabolic liver disorders. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology.

Dr. Clark earned her medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta and completed her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She then joined the University of Florida for her gastroenterology fellowship and pursued advanced training in liver transplantation. Following her clinical training, she completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at the University of Florida before joining the faculty.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Clark is deeply involved in research, serving as principal investigator on multiple industry-sponsored studies and co-investigator on NIH-funded research. Her research interests include clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies focused on conditions such as alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, fatty liver disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and hepatitis C. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Clark is an active member of professional organizations, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and the Alpha-1 Foundation. She has also been recognized with multiple Exemplary Teacher Awards from the UF College of Medicine for her contributions to medical education. She practices in Gainesville, Florida, seeing patients with complex gastrointestinal and liver conditions and mentoring the next generation of specialists through the GI fellowship program at UF.
