Dr. Vassiliki Papadimitrakopoulou is a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her areas of expertise include design and development of novel therapeutic clinical trials for lung and head and neck neoplasms, personalized-genomics-driven lung cancer therapy and translational research and cancer chemoprevention. Her extensive experience in design, development, and implementation of translational research in the context of multidisciplinary research teams has led to research funding from NCI, ASCO, and DOD both independently and as a member of a research team.

She has prevention studies that have resulted in a series of innovative findings regarding the role of cyclin D1 overexpression and gene polymorphisms and the significance of aneuploidy as a predictor and a tool for selecting high-risk cohorts for intervention and personalized targeted therapy approaches (EPOC trial). Her sustained contributions to the Head and Neck SPORE program with a series of innovative approaches have resulted in a better understanding of the field and complemented a very well established research program at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
