Valerie is Honorary Research Fellow at the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital. Valerie has been involved in Fertility Nursing since 1993, and was Chair of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Midwifery & Fertility Nurses Forum from 2008 - 2011. Her clinical role is predominately ‘nurse-led’ and incorporates nurse-led clinics, pelvic ultrasound, embryo transfer and intrauterine insemination.
She has played a key role in standardising the quality of care provided by fertility nurses, developing the ‘Training & Educational Framework for Fertility Nursing’ (RCN, 2013). Jointly, with the RCN Committee, she was also involved in developing and reviewing the Fertility Nurse Competences (RCN, 2011).
Valerie sits on the One at a Time Editorial Board which plays a key role in shaping patient information in the context of elective single embryo transfer.
