Valerie A. Resendez ​MA, NCC, LPC

Valerie Resendez ​​​​​​​Her work has taken her into numerous settings such as a federal prison, county jails, hospitals, residential facilities, and community mental health settings. Over the course of her work with forensic populations, Valerie realized even people facing the most challenging circumstances could evolve and thrive by working to positively re-frame their thoughts.

Valerie Resendez obtained her Master's degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver in 2008. Additionally, she is a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has had experience working with various forensic populations since 2006, including federal and state probationers and parolees, perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, adults with developmental disabilities, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

Additionally, Valerie came to recognize the strategies that were effective for forensic populations, were just as successful for non-forensic patients, and this inspired her to expand her practice. By identifying one’s strengths, Valerie is able to instill genuine hope into her clients to illicit an increase in self-efficacy, and to empower them to establish positive change. Life is difficult for everyone, however, Valerie can help you re-gain power and control to create the life you want to live.
