Dr. Umakanth Khatwa, is a graduate of Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, Karnataka, and completed his pediatrics residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He came to United States and completed his pediatric residency at The Weil Cornell Medical School, Lincoln Medical Center, New York. He went on to complete his fellowships in pediatric pulmonology at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital and sleep medicine at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.

Dr. Khatwa, is certified in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine. He is currently faculty at Harvard Medical School and actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. He has clinical appointment in pulmonary and sleep medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is the Director of Sleep Laboratory at Boston Children Hospital and co-director for Program for Sleep Apnea and Sleep Surgery and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Program. His area of clinical expertise include pediatric sleep and breathing disorders and complex airways problems.

He is the course director for Harvard CME program “Richard Ferber Pediatric Sleep Medicine Course”. He is frequently invited to speak at various local, national and international conferences. He is the international faculty for RESPICON annual conference in India. He is involved in training residents and fellows at Boston Children’s Hospital and also involved in training sleep specialist abroad. He has published in various peer reviewed journals and written several book chapters. Dr. Khatwa, is the member of American Academy of Sleep Medicine and American Thoracic Society.
