Todd Thomas has become a nationally renowned author, lecturer, and consultant on Emergency Physician coding and documentation. He was a founding member of the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders where he served as Secretary, President‐Elect, and President for the Oklahoma Chapter after it was established in 1994.

He has developed and presented coding seminars for many groups and organizations around the country, including the American College of Emergency Physicians. Oklahoma State Medical Association, the Louisiana Medical Association, and ACEP state chapters in at least a dozen states. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for ED Coding Alert and is frequently quoted in their publications ED Coding Alert and Medical Coding Wire. He has been featured on the panel of experts at the American College of Emergency Physicians National Coding and Reimbursement seminars every year since 2001. He is also one of the few non‐physician members of the Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee for The American College of Emergency Physicians.
