Dr. Francone is board certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. He earned his medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and completed his general surgery residency at NYP-Weill Cornell Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Lahey Clinic in addition to a clinical colorectal oncology research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.

Prior to joining MGH, Dr. Francone served as Assistant Professor for Surgery and Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center where he also obtained a master’s degree in public health. From there, he returned to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center to serve as Director for Robotic Colorectal Surgery as well as Program Director of the Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency Program. He also served as an instructor in medicine at Tufts Medical School.
