Timothy E. Ritter MD

Dr. Timothy E. Ritter is a board-certified gastroenterologist with more than three decades of clinical experience, recognized as a leader in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and clinical research. He practices in Southlake, Texas, as part of GI Alliance, one of the largest physician-led gastroenterology networks in the United States.

Dr. Ritter serves as Senior Medical Director and founder of the Department of Clinical Research and Education at GI Alliance, where he oversees research initiatives and advances clinical trial development in gastroenterology. His work focuses particularly on IBD, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and he has contributed extensively to research through publications, clinical trials, and advisory roles with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. In addition to his clinical leadership, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at TCU School of Medicine.

Dr. Ritter is widely regarded as a key opinion leader in private practice gastroenterology. He has been actively involved in developing innovative care models, including multidisciplinary approaches to IBD management, and continues to contribute to national research efforts and professional societies such as the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
