Timothy B. Curry, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota, where he serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Practice in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. A physician-scientist with expertise in anesthesiology, physiology, genomics, and individualized medicine, Dr. Curry is recognized for his contributions to perioperative care, autonomic nervous system research, and the implementation of precision medicine in clinical practice.
Dr. Curry earned both his MD and PhD in Physiology and Biophysics through the Medical Scientist Training Program at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine followed by residency training in Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic. His interdisciplinary training has enabled him to bridge clinical anesthesiology with translational research in human physiology and genomics.
His clinical interests include anesthesia for spine, thoracic, and orthopedic surgery, regional anesthesia, and perioperative glucose management. His research focuses on the autonomic nervous system, cardiovascular regulation, insulin sensitivity, metabolic health, and environmental physiology. He is internationally recognized for using advanced techniques such as microneurography to study sympathetic nerve activity and its role in human disease.
