Tamer Mahmoud, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He graduated Valedictorian with highest honors from Ain Shams University Medical School in Cairo, Egypt. He completed internship in Surgery and residency in ophthalmology at Duke University Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina. He then stayed at Duke for Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship. Dr. Mahmoud then joined the faculty at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan where he was Assistant Professor, and then Associate Professor and Program Director of Vitreoretinal Fellowship, Department of Ophthalmology. He then moved back to North Carolina and joined the faculty at Duke University Eye Center where he has been an Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Vitreoretinal Surgery, and became the Program Director of Vitreoretinal Fellowship.
