Tamer A. Ghanem is a highly experienced ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and facial plastic surgeon, with specialized expertise in head and neck cancer surgery, microvascular reconstruction, and facial plastic and reconstructive procedures. His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of services, including general ENT surgeries, complex head and neck oncologic operations, advanced free flap microvascular reconstruction, and facial cosmetic enhancements. In 2008, Dr. Ghanem joined the Henry Ford Medical Group, where he founded the Head and Neck Cancer Division in 2009. Since then, he has been at the forefront of surgical innovation and multidisciplinary care in the treatment of head and neck cancers, earning recognition for his contributions to patient care, education, and research in the field.
Dr. Ghanem earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Utah in 1993. He then pursued graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah, completing both his Ph.D. and M.D. degrees in 2002. He continued his medical training with a General Surgery Internship in 2003, followed by a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Virginia, completed in 2007. He went on to complete a fellowship in microvascular reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in 2008.
