Tamas Bereczky PhD

Tamás Bereczky currently works as the communications officer of the European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation EUPATI and the Country Coordinator of EUPATI Germany, while also supporting, as member, the work of the European AIDS Treatment Group (www.eatg.org), the largest European network of individuals living with HIV. HIV positive since 2003, he served as a member of the board of directors of the EATG for almost 4 years, and also served as the co-chair of the European Commission’s Civil Society Forum on HIV/AIDS between 2013 and 2015. Tamás started working as a peer helper and blogger with HIV in 2006 and has been gradually involved in the science and policy of HIV advocacy over the past decade. Originally a linguist and psychologists, Tamás is set to defend his PhD based on research into the significance and perspectives of patient organizations in Europe in 2018.

In addition to his work as a psychodrama practitioner, he also works as an advisor to EACS, UNAIDS and ECDC in matters concerning HIV, HCV, men having sex with men, substance use, and health policy. He is involved in the European Patients’ Academy for Therapeutic Innovation as an editor, content producer and trainer. He also was the editor and developer of the EATG website for 3 years, and has been producing HIV and hepatitis C advocacy videos, websites and blogs in his native Hungarian. Since 2017, Tamás has also been involved in Patvocates Network, a German consultancy working in a social enterprise model. Patvocates provides training, consultancy and organisational development services in the fields of patient involvement for patient organisations, the pharmaceutical industry and regulators.
