Dr. Susan J. Rehm, MD, is an Infectious Disease Specialist in Cleveland, OH and has over 44 years of experience in the medical field. She serves as the Medical Director for the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases and as Vice Chair of the Department of Infectious Disease and Executive Director of Physician Health at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Dr. Rehm earned her medical degree with high distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. She completed both her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the Cleveland Clinic. In her role with the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, Dr. Rehm has focused on educating the public and professionals about the causes, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases. Throughout her career, she has also been active in formal medical education, previously serving as the program director for the Cleveland Clinic’s Infectious Disease Fellowship and its internal medicine residency program.

Dr. Rehm’s clinical and research focus involves the management of infections due to Gram-positive cocci. She has participated in clinical trials of new antimicrobial agents and outcomes studies. In 1982, Dr. Rehm established the Cleveland Clinic’s community parenteral antibiotic therapy program, and she continues to study outcomes among patients who receive intravenous antibiotics outside the hospital setting. She has co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Clinical Infectious Diseases, New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. Dr. Rehm has also served as a guest editor for Clinical Infectious Diseases and is a member of the editorial board of Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice.
