Suresh Vedantham, MD, is a professor of radiology and of surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. An interventional radiologist at the School of Medicine’s Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Vedantham specializes in the delivery and evaluation of imaging-guided therapies for venous disease, including venous blood clots.
In his clinical practice, he sees patients with complex venous disorders who are referred to him locally and nationally for treatment that often includes innovative image-guided procedures. Vedantham also serves as assistant dean for clinical research and directs the Trial-CARE Center that promotes clinical trial innovation and efficiency. Vedantham is the national principal investigator of the landmark NIH-sponsored ATTRACT and C-TRACT clinical trials that are defining the role of image-guided venous treatments.
The ATTRACT Trial was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2017 and subsequently won a prestigious Top Ten Award from the Clinical Research Forum. Vedantham served as the 2017-2018 president of the Society of Interventional Radiology and also as an executive board member for the American Venous Forum, American College of Phlebology, American Board of Phlebology, Vascular Disease Foundation, and Venous Disease Coalition.
