Dr. Sundeep Santosh Salvi is the Director of Chest Research Foundation (CRF) since 2002 and has helped establish CRF as one of the leading research institutes in the field of Obstructive Airways Diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
After completing his postgraduate training in the field of Respiratory Medicine in Pune, India, he obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine at the University of Southampton in the UK, where he researched the effects of air pollution on the human lung.
His pioneering research on the health effects of diesel exhaust is a citation classic. He returned to India in 2002 and helped set up the Chest Research Foundation to fill the huge research gaps in the field of respiratory research in India. CRF is now recognized as a leading lung research institute in India and has received the prestigious BMJ Award for the Best Pulmonology Team in South Asia. His team members have received over 25 international awards for their research work and have contributed to textbook chapters, monograms, and international peer-reviewed journals.
