Steven Paul Bowers MD

Dr. Steven P. Bowers graduated with a degree in Physics from Duke University in 1991 and received his doctorate in Medicine from Emory University. He completed General Surgery residency training at the University of Colorado and fellowship training in advanced gastrointestinal surgery at the Emory Endosurgery Unit.

Dr. Bowers served in the United States Military from 2002 to 2008, deploying three times in support of the War in Iraq, and initiated the minimally invasive surgery program at forwarding combat hospitals. He has been at Mayo Clinic Florida for ten years, where he specializes in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus and stomach, including achalasia, esophageal cancer, reflux, fundoplication failure, hernia, and obesity/weight loss.
