Dr. Stephanie Seminara is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Unit Chief of the REU. In the clinic, she sees both men and women with a broad variety of reproductive abnormalities and has a particular interest in men and women with hypogonadal states. Dr. Seminara studies the genes that control the timing of puberty and fertility in the human. One of the central experiences of human life is the transformation from childhood to adulthood puberty. Although puberty is a universal human experience, the triggers for sexual maturation have been a “black box” within reproductive biology for decades.
