Dr. Soo-Ryum (Stewart) Yang is a board-certified pathologist specializing in thoracic pathology, molecular genetic pathology, and cytopathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He provides diagnostic evaluation of tissue specimens from the lung, pleura, and mediastinum, with a particular clinical focus on lung adenocarcinoma, mesothelioma, and interstitial lung disease. In addition to his thoracic pathology practice, Dr. Yang serves in Diagnostic Molecular Pathology, where he performs molecular testing for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies to support precision cancer care.
His research centers on the discovery and validation of lung cancer biomarkers, liquid biopsy technologies, and the development of molecular diagnostic assays that improve personalized treatment strategies. Dr. Yang collaborates with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams to advance precision oncology and integrate molecular diagnostics into routine cancer care.
