Professor Redwood qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1987. He trained in Cardiology at The Royal London Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and St. George’s Hospital, London. Interventional training was obtained at The Washington Cardiology Center, Washington, DC and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals.
Professor Redwood is Professor of Interventional Cardiology/ Honorary Consultant Cardiologist and Director of the Cardiac Catheter labs at St. Thomas’. He is also President of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society. He has been performing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for over 20 years and is trained in all aspects of adult interventional cardiology IVUS, pressure wire, stent implantation, rotational atherectomy, laser angioplasty, and trans-catheter aortic valve implantation.
His has particular interest in interventional cardiology based research including risk analysis and prediction of events post percutaneous coronary intervention, evaluation of coronary stents, coronary artery and myocardial physiology during ischaemia and the Interventional management of out-of hospital cardiac arrest. He runs an active research team, has over 160 publications, is lead editor of a major Interventional Cardiology textbook (Oxford Textbook of Interventional Cardiology), has raised over £7.8m in grant funding and has supervised >14 MD/PhD theses
