Dr. Silvio Danese graduated from the Catholic University “Sacro Cuore” of Rome in 1999. From 2001 to 2004, he moved to the Division of Gastroenterology – Case Western Reserve University -Cleveland, Ohio, US- where he worked as a Research Associate in the field of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), under the supervision of Prof. C. Fiocchi.
In 2004, Dr. Danese became a specialist in Gastroenterology at the School of Specialization of the Policlinico Gemelli of Rome, led by Prof. G. Gasbarrini and at the same time, he began the Ph.D./Doctor in Physiopathology of Metabolism, focusing specifically on basic and applied research concerning IBD.
Dr. Danese is now a Full Professor of Gastroenterology at Humanitas University and head of the IBD center at the Humanitas Clinical and Research Hospital. He is currently working on basic research projects and clinical trials for the treatment of IBD patients, in collaboration with numerous Italian, European, and American centers.
