Sherif Badawy MD, MS, MBA

Dr. Sherif Badawy is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is an Attending Physician at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. He also directs the Comprehensive Thalassemia Program and the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Program, where he provides specialized care for children and adolescents with non-malignant blood disorders.

Dr. Badawy's research focuses on improving health outcomes for children and adolescents with chronic medical conditions through innovative approaches to medication adherence, patient-reported outcomes, quality of life, and digital health interventions. His work integrates mobile health (mHealth), behavioral science, and health services research to develop and evaluate technology-enabled strategies that enhance patient engagement, self-management, and long-term clinical outcomes. He is an active investigator with the Institute for Public Health and Medicine's Center for Health Services and Outcomes Research and the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS).

A nationally recognized leader in pediatric hematology, Dr. Badawy has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has contributed extensively to advancing evidence-based care for sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and other hematologic disorders. His multidisciplinary work bridges clinical practice, implementation science, digital innovation, and population health to improve healthcare delivery and patient-centered outcomes for children with chronic illnesses.
