Shana Harris, Ph.D. is a cultural and medical anthropologist and Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida. Her research, which has been funded by several organizations including the National Institutes of Health and the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, focuses on drug use and abuse and health politics and interventions in Latin America and the United States.

Her current work examines medical travel and the use of a psychedelic called ibogaine for drug treatment in Mexico.She received her Ph.D. in medical anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, San Francisco in 2012.
