Dr. Sperling is a clinical neuropsychologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Virginia. He attended the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA, during which time he trained at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and VA Northern California Health Care System. He completed his internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and his postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Virginia. Dr. Sperling specializes in conducting evaluations for individuals with Parkinson's disease and for those with suspected cognitive and memory problems.
He is also the neuropsychologist for the Functional Neurosurgery Clinic, where he completes evaluations for patients considering deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sperling conducts research that explores the relationships between cognition, behavior, and the brain's neural circuits in individuals with Parkinson's disease and movement disorders. He has also partnered with the local Alzheimer's Association and Parkinson's disease support groups to provide community outreach and patient/caregiver education and support.
