Sandra L. Argenio MD

Sandra Argenio, M.D., is a Family Physician and educator. She served as a Consultant in the Department of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic Florida and as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Mayo Medical School. She continues as an Emeritus member of the Family Medicine Department. Dr. Argenio has nurtured new generations of doctors. She was instrumental in the development and served as the inaugural program director of the Family Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic Florida. She has trained and mentored over 150 Family Medicine residents. In her current work with the Institute of Healthcare Excellence, she has collaborated in designing multiple curricula and courses. With the IHE team, she has had the privilege to deliver programs at multiple hospitals, hospices, and pediatric and military hospitals across the nation. 

Dr. Argenio served as the President of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians in 2005 and has been active on many committees of the FAFP and the American Academy of Family Physicians. She has been active in Continuing Medical Education program planning at Mayo Clinic and the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, conducting Maintenance of Certification Workshop sessions on multiple topics for over 1,100 participants at FAFP meetings. Dr. Argenio was awarded the Outstanding Florida Family Medicine Educator Award by FAFP and the Mayo Distinguished Educator Award. She was listed as one of Jacksonville’s Best Doctors by Jacksonville Magazine from 2000 to 2014. She has published on the topics of presence, reflective listening, and communicating effectively with female patients. She also served on the Florida Governor’s Workforce Advisory Board. 

Dr. Argenio is a graduate of Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Hahnemann Medical University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. She resides in Ormond Beach, Florida, with her husband and daughter.
