Dr. Sandeep Sahay is trained in pulmonary critical care medicine and has expertise in pulmonary vascular diseases. He is the Director of the Pulmonary hypertension program at Houston Methodist Hospital and an Associate Professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Sahay earned his medical degree at the Maulana Azad Medical College at the University of Delhi in India and completed his residency in pulmonary medicine (Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute at the University of Delhi) before moving to the US. He did his residency training in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic Akron General and a fellowship in pulmonary critical care medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Dr. Sahay’s primary research interest is group 1 PH. He currently serves as the principal investigator (PI) on multiple clinical trials involving pulmonary vascular diseases and has published numerous scientific papers on the related subject. Dr. Sahay was awarded the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) CHEST Foundation Research Grant in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in 2017 and an ACCP CHEST interstitial lung disease research award in 2020. In 2021, he received a research grant from United Therapeutics to study proteomics and genomics in portopulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Sahay is an associate editor for Respiratory Medicine and Frontiers in Medicine and on the editorial board of Pulmonary Circulation. He is also a member of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (serving on the PHCC Accreditation Review Committee and PHAR Registry Liaison Committee) and the ACCP CHEST Pulmonary Vascular Disease Network Steering Committee. He enjoys teaching and learning from the Methodist faculty fellows and medical colleagues worldwide.
