Robert Scott Kirsner MD, PhD

Dr. Robert S. Kirsner, M.D., Ph.D., has been named Chair of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. Kirsner, who holds the Harvey Blank Professorship, has been Interim Chair since his predecessor, Lawrence A. Schachner, M.D., stepped down in December 2014. He is also a professor of public health sciences, and he lends his expertise to treating the underserved and homeless populations of Miami-Dade County at Camillus House, where, for more than 20 years, he has conducted a monthly dermatology clinic.

Kirsner currently serves as Chief of Dermatology at University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital. He is one of the nation’s leading wound care experts and was selected to serve as the first Director of the University of Miami Hospital Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center, which opened in 2011. The Center offers under one roof state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary care by a unique team of UHealth and community physicians, nurses and therapists who specialize in healing some of the most complex chronic wounds.
