Robert Sapolsky PhD is the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Professor of Biology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at Stanford University, as well as a research associate at the Institute for Primate Research, National Museums of Kenya. For more than thirty years, he has divided his time between laboratory work, examining the adverse effects of stress hormones on the brain, and field studies of wild baboons in East Africa, examining the relationships among social rank, stress, and stress-related health. Prof. Sapolsky’s books for non-scientists include Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers (2004) and Determined: A Science of Life Without Free Will (2023).
