Presentation description: the lecture focuses on the basic dichotomy in stress: in the face of the stressors experienced by the typical mammal, which is to say acute physical challenges, the body’s stress-response is highly adaptive; in contrast, in the face of the chronic psychosocial stress that humans excel at, the same stress-response becomes adverse to health.
