Robert Kacmarek,PhD, RRT, FCCM, FCCP, FARC, is the Director of Respiratory Care at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a Professor of Anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School. In his role at Mass General, he is responsible for the respiratory care provided in all inpatient and outpatient areas of Mass General as well as providing education regarding respiratory care to other groups within patient care services as well as to a number medical services.

He is a fellow of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Society for Respiratory Care. He received the Forrest Bird Lifetime Achievement Award and the Jimmy A. Young Life Time Service Award from the American Association for Respiratory Care and is a College Medalist of the American College of Chest Physicians.
