Richard is a surgeon who has worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering for over 15 years to care for people with head and neck cancers. He has a particular expertise and interest in the surgical removal of thyroid cancer, nodal metastases from thyroid cancer, and recurrent thyroid cancer. He also have a strong interest in treating oral cancer, parotid tumors, melanoma, and parathyroid adenomas.

He is the principal investigator of a grant from the National Institutes of Health, NIH T32, supporting the training of head and neck surgeons at MSK. He also serve as the MSK site director for the Otolaryngology Residency Training Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia and Weill Cornell campuses. His research interests include elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms of perineural invasion by cancer. He is the principal investigator of a laboratory funded by an R01 grant from the National Cancer Institute. Our group is working to identify novel molecular targets that may be treated to improve outcomes for our patients.
